i think that this idea of less focus on the SAT scores is a great idea. The SAT is a college level test that requires students to sit for FIVE hours in one class and take this horrible test. To me its not fair because some students are great test takers and some aren't. Also my friend frank took the SAt and did terrible on it but his gpa in high school was a 95. He not too good with tests or sitting in a room for 5 hours taking a test. i think that colleges should focus more on gpa's and other activities the student has been through in his or her's life.

i thing focusing less on the SAT is a great idea, it would have been a better idea two years ago before i took the test. i thing the SAT is a waste of time, because it doesn't really tell any thing about you or your abilities. the thing they should look at is everything you have achieved so far, all your goals and average.

i also agree with vitale and think that idea of looking at students average more than looking at the tests is a great idea. its because sometimes students who do good in class but dont do good in these type of tests that doesnt mean that they are not smart. its just that its not in their capability to pass these type of tests.

I do agree that it's a little unfair because some people are just not good test-takers. On the other hand though, that's part of what you have to work on to get a good grade. Someone who's a bad test-taker may have to work harder than some other people, but if they practice with old tests and research some tips on mastering test-taking skills, they can do just as well as everybody else. It's all a matter of putting in the effort. I know this for a fact because I have a couple of friends who used to do terrible on these tests but with the SAT's there are tons of old questions to practice on so if you work on it before and prepare yourself, and practice doing it with the time limitations, you can definitely prepare yourself and end up doing very well. Obviously, it's kind of unfair that some have to work harder than others but life isn't always fair. In the end, this is the best tool they have as of now to judge people on. If so many people don't like it, someone should come up with some better way of objectively judging people's academic capabilities, and maybe someday it'll be different. For now though, it does the job, and everybody could be good at taking tests if they really wanted to so I don't think that's a good enough argument against it.
